This Friday WDC lands in Bristol for it’s 5th event, WDC2011.

Unlike previous years we’ve moved away from EventBrite and kept everything under 1 roof powered by WordPress so things have changed a bit and this post will help clear up any questions you may have before Friday. So let’s get started:

Tickets:

Because of the move away from EventBrite the ticket system the tickets for this year have changed.

There is no printable ticket for this years event. We love the planet so please don’t print anything you don’t need to. Just come along on the day and give your name at the registration desk. So long as you’re on the list you’ll get in, simple.

Event Running Time:

Doors will open around 8:30-8:45 with the start of the event at 9:15 so please take this in to account when travelling. Please don’t panic if you’re running late people will be around to direct you to where you need to be.

Getting from Temple Meads:

Travel to the Venue is simple enough, to get from Temple Meads you can walk, get a bus (no. 8 or 9 to the centre) or get a taxi. It’s a 15min walk approx.

Pub Quiz:

As some of you will have previously read Ubelly are presenting a Pub Quiz this year of Thursday night! Be sure to get a team (of up to 6) together and head over to the Ubelly Registration Page!

Some of you will have heard of Ubelly in the past and will know who they are and what they do, others will find out!

WDC2011 will have a Ubelly presence and if you’re coming down Thursday night you’ll be lucky enough with the chance to take part in a pub quiz with some prizes up for grabs!

I’m currently sorting out the perfect venue which will be confirmed Monday so be sure to be in Bristol to test your teams knowledge Thursday 20th October!

Team registration will begin Monday too and it will be teams of 6 so please get your teams sorted this week ready to go! I might even throw in a prize for the geekiest team name so I expect to see plenty of twittering to get your teams sorted!

Founded in 2010, Potato is a rapidly-growing creator of complex web apps, working with companies like Google and PayPal from London, Bristol and Amsterdam.

With just over a week to go it’s great to see so much support for this years event and this post marks the first of 3 introducing new sponsors.

Twilio is a web-service API that lets you use your existing web languages and skills to build voice and SMS applications and it’s great to announce their support for WDC2011.

As WDC2011 draws closer and closer it seems things are happening every day!

This afternoon I spent some time working on the WDC2011 event map.

The idea is to give every one of you some idea of where everything is when coming to Bristol in October. It currently have a number of different points of interest such as hotels, car parks and the after party location.

If you think I’ve missed a location please leave a comment and I will add it to the map. I will be looking in to making it location aware on iOS so you can use it when you arrive in Bristol for the event.

Be sure to take at the look at the map and comment with any feedback or locations you have.

This year we have had Super Early Birds and Early Birds and until the end of this month (September) the General Tickets will be on Sale.

From October 1st General Tickets will be replaced with our Late Birds and all tickets will got up by £5, General Tickets £55 and Students £35 (discount codes will still work).

So if you want to be sure of saving the most you can get your ticket before the end of the month!

As we get closer and closer to the event its always great to announce new sponsors. This time its RomanCart!
